Bricktown Baden, Hunter, Glass and Confectionary Buildings  Renovation

Bricktown is a historical warehouse office district in downtown Oklahoma City that has been converted to office and retail space.  Running through the center of the district is a canal.  Howard and Associates designed the renovation of four historical buildings to be connected together.

The buildings were renovated to meet historical guidelines.   To introduce natural daylight into the floors below in three of the buildings, three story atrium spaces with continuous skylights above were designed   Natural wood trim and wood structural elements were used to enhance the architectural heritage of the building.

Inside the buildings,  existing brick walls were left exposed . Additional windows were added to the buildings meeting historical building guidelines.  Colorful window awnings were added in the original architectural style.

The exterior site design includes open lightwells at the sides of the buildings with connecting steps from the street level to the floors below.  Brick paved walkways, lightwells, and planter walls were designed to meet exit requirements.  Attractive landscaping was added to compliment the historical appearance of the buildings.
