Percussive Arts Society
The building is located in Lawton, Oklahoma on the grounds of Elmer Park. The design included space for the National Headquarters offices and a museum to display percussive instruments. Large archive storage adjacent to the museum was included.
The exterior stepped receding walls and roof forms produce a rhythmic architectural design that is revealed inside the museum. Glass penetrations in the walls are stepped back to continue the rhythmic form. Office areas were strategically placed to provide views of the park.
The mixture of flat and sloped metal roofs, stepped walls and brick planters create a modern building which shows continuous movement thru the arrangement of the design elements. An outdoor patio for events was incorporated between the museum and office wings.
